J-U-M-P.org unique Memories

About J-U-M-P

Our challenge began in 2004 to form a Charity in memory of a remarkable little boy Jacob Hawthorn.

Jacob was born with Muscular Dystrophy, a musclewasting disease that severely affects movement and mobility.

Jacobs family worked very hard to remove barriers that got in the way of Jacob living as normal a life as possible and his Mummy took him on lots of lovely trips so that he could experience lots of different things.

His favourite place was Disneyland Paris where lots of his Disney pals live

Jacob passed away on the 13th February 2004 and his family found it very hard as he was such a brave and pleasant little boy, who rarely complained, although he had a lot of illness to cope with. His family had a wonderful collection of pictures and short films of his adventures and found them a real priceless treasure to cherish his memory.

During the few days after Jacob passed away his little Nanna thought what a wonderful tribute it would be to Jacob, to set up a Charity to capture memories for other children who face health challenges.

Hence J-U-M-P was formed. Jacob just loved the song JUMP and so it was fitting to use this as our Charity name.

 Who is Tiggeroo ?

J-U-M-P's very own charity mascot TIGGEROO© has finally come to life as a full sized character.

Tiggeroo© was designed by little Isaac Latimer of Warrington (his design can be seen on the left) in a competition we ran to design our character who is half tiger and half kangaroo. After Isaac's winning entry was decided upon, work got underway to get him made in time for out Family Fun day which was held in June this year.

He was made by Sally Preisig of Mimics Productions, a company specialising in making children's characters and puppets for TV and theatre.

When we told Sally about Tiggeroo© and how he came about she J-U-M-Ped at the chance to make him. Sally made Tiggeroo© exactly how we wanted him and did an amazing job of getting everything just right to make him look half tiger and half kangaroo. J-U-M-P is very grateful to Sally for everything she has done.

Tiggeroo© was officially launched on Sunday 12th June when Isaac came face to face with his own creation. He was absolutely fascinated by him and thoroughly enjoyed having his picture taken with him! Tiggeroo©’s first official day out was at Monk’s Sports Club on Sunday 19th June which was where we held our Family Fun Day.

He made an immediate impact with everyone especially the children who came out to meet and greet him during the day. They also had their picture taken with him and showed just what a fantastic success Tiggeroo© will be. His next major outing was at Disability Awareness Day at Walton gardens in Warrington last month (July) where J-U-M-P had a massive display showing just what we do.

Tiggeroo© came out at various times of the day and again the children came to have their pictures taken with him. Even the Mayor and Mayoress and Helen Southworth, MP of Warrington South came to meet him and have their picture taken with him.

Additionally, we are seeking sponsorship for our mascot, if you would like to sponsor "Tiggeroo©" your companies name would be present on a professionally designed banner that will be present at all of our events and outings, in addition this website will host a sponsors page advertising the companies who have sponsored us and their services.

This is an important step in the growth of our charity and it's bid to raise awareness of our mission, if you can help please contact us.
